Film Developing Instructions for Black and White Film
using Sprint Chemistry

PREWET

Water 1 minute at 68 degrees/ Constant agitation.
Start timing when you begin filling the tank with water. Empty the tank at the end of allotted time.

FILM DEVELOPER

10 minutes at 68 degrees
Measure 20 oz for a plastic (2 reel) tank.
Begin timing. Pour developer into the tank. To dislodge air bubbles, tap the tank lightly on the counter to release air bubbles. Agitate 5 seconds every half minute after the initial first 60 seconds of agitation. Rap once firmly against the bottom of the sink immediately after the initial 60 seconds of agitation. Continue to agitate film every 30 seconds for the remainder of the time. When development time is completed, pour developer down the drain. Time: varies with film and temperature (and brand developer), see chart below for Kodak Tri-X film*

STOP BATH

30 seconds
Measure 20 oz for a plastic (2 reel) tank.
Agitation: Constant.
Reuse - pour Stop back into the same container when finished.

FIX

4 minutes
Agitation: 5 seconds every half minute after the initial first 60 seconds of agitation.
Reuse - pour Fixer back into the same container when finished

ELIMINATOR/FIXER REMOVER

2 minutes
Agitate 5 seconds every half minute after the initial 30 seconds of agitation. Return Eliminator to container when finished.
Reuse - pour Eliminator back into the same container when finished

WATER WASH

10 minutes
Fill, empty, and refill the tank with water for
.

PHOTOFLO/WETTING AGENT

1 minute
Mix about ½ capful of wetting agent to a tank filled with water. Agitate for a few seconds.

HANG TO DRY

Hang from a metal clip in a drying cabinet. Place a metal clip (or crushed empty film cartridge) at the bottom of the hanging film.

CLEAN UP

Rinse all reels and tanks. Shake off excess water, dry and return to storage places.

Note

Temperature. Should remain consistent throughout the process including the wash. 68 is ideal, but adjust the time for temperatures other than 68 degrees, see chart *.

Timing. Should begin when the tank is completely filled with solution. Begin pouring out each solution about 10 seconds before the time is over.

Agitation.
Should begin immediately after the tank is filled. Gently rotate the tank twice, invert it twice, and rotate it again - following this sequence for the entire agitation. Do not over agitate.

Be consistent!!!
