Explanations of Grading Criteria

Technical
The following are the technical criteria:
- Aperture and shutter speed
-Exposure
-File format

The following is a breakdown of the grading scale:

A. The students have shot images that demonstrate:
- Appropriate use of the aperture and shutter speeds to enhance the image
- Accurate exposure
- Appropriate tonal distribution in the histogram
- Correct compression by using the specified file formats

B. The students have shot images that demonstrate:

- Appropriate use of the aperture and shutter speeds with minor discrepancies
- Mostly correct exposures as in the histogram
- Compression with minor discrepancies

C. The students have shot images that:

- Demonstrate basic knowledge of the aperture and shutter speeds
- Demonstrate inconsistent exposures
- Have the histograms showing overexposure and underexposure
- Have room for improvement and are incorrectly saved

D. The students have shot images that:

- Do not demonstrate any technical understanding
- Have inaccurate apertures and shutter speeds
- Are saved by using an inaccurate file format and compression

Professional Relevance
The following are the professional relevance criteria:

- Subject matter
- Deadline
- Direction
The following is a breakdown of the grading scale:

A. The students have:

- Used a subject matter appropriate to the assignment
-Promptly followed the directions
-Promptly met the deadline

B. The students have:

- Used a subject matter relevant to the assignment
- Followed directions with minor details lost
- Met the deadline

C. The students have:
- Used a subject matter that is not relevant to the assignment
- Somewhat met the directions with no attention to detail
- Not met the deadline but submitted the assignment within the week

D. The students have:

- Used a subject matter that is not appropriate or relevant to the assignment
- Not followed the directions
- Not met the deadline

Aesthetics
The following is the aesthetics criterion:

Composition
The following is a breakdown of the grading scale:

A. The students have shot images that:

- Use compositional elements, such as line, shape and pattern, contrast, balance
and symmetry, shallow and deep depth of field, viewpoint, and perspective, to
enhance the subject
-Consider everything in the frame, including the background, foreground, and the
edges of the frame

B. The students have shot images that:

-Use some compositional elements
- Show minor neglect of the background, foreground, and the edges of the frame

C. The students have shot images that:

- Somewhat use compositional elements
- Show neglect of the background, foreground, and the edges of the frame

D. The students have shot images:

- With the subject floating in the frame, having no compositional elements to direct
the viewer's eyes in and around the frame

- With haphazard composition and no attention to detail

Conceptual

The following is the conceptual criterion:

- Nonverbal communication
The following is a breakdown of the grading scale:

A. The students have shot images that:
- Are recognizable and easy to access
- Engage the viewer

B. The students have shot images that contain adequate information in the composition to
engage viewers.

C. The students have shot images that contain cloudy information and are not easily
accessible to the viewers.

D. The students have shot images that lack information and therefore do not engage the
